How Our Results Are Calculated

We would rather you could check our results than simply take our word for them. This page explains exactly what is published and how the numbers are worked out.

1. What we publish

Every selection we send to members is listed on the Results section of the site, grouped by meeting and race time. Winners, placed horses and unplaced selections are all shown. Losing selections are not removed.

2. Points and level stakes

Results are shown in points at level stakes. Every selection is treated as the same size of stake, so results can be compared over time regardless of how much anyone actually bets. A point is a unit, not a sum of money.

3. Each-way settlement

We back selections each-way. An each-way bet is two equal bets: one on the horse to win and one on it to place. The win part is settled at the full odds. The place part is settled at a fraction of the odds (commonly one quarter or one fifth) for a set number of places. Those terms vary by race and by bookmaker.

4. Advised odds, not starting price

The odds shown next to each selection are the odds advised to members when the selection was sent. They are not the starting price (SP). Results are settled at those advised odds.

5. Bookmaker availability and deductions

Bookmaker prices change quickly. We cannot guarantee that the advised odds were still available when you tried to bet, and you may have received a smaller or larger price. Bookmakers may also apply Rule 4 deductions when a horse is withdrawn, dead-heat rules, or different each-way terms. For those reasons your actual returns can differ from the points we publish.

6. How the monthly total works

Each day's result is the sum of the points won and lost on that day's meetings. The figure on each meeting card is the running monthly total after that meeting: the previous running total plus that meeting's result. The headline figure for the month is the last running total in that month. Each new month starts again from zero.

7. Partner Points

Some members are Partners, who receive selections earlier than Members. For those members, Partner Points are shown separately next to the Members total, and they can differ from it. From October 2026, Partner Points are recorded for each meeting using the bookmaker prices available at the time the selection message was sent to Partners. Everything else on this page describes the Members results.

8. Are the results independently verified?

No. Results are compiled by Venture Racing from the selections we send to members. They are not currently verified by an independent third party, so please treat them as our own record and weigh them accordingly.

9. Risk
